Cruise of the Gringo Vagabundos

Bud Hedrick and his life-long pal Flip Hoffman take us on an exciting, wonder – filled voyage – a gunk-hole cruise the length of the Sea of Cortez, across the Gulf and down the mainland coast of Mexico in an open catamaran powered by two outboard engines, fishing, diving, surfing. This trip wasn't about cheating death, but expanding life.….Kevin Short, artist, author "Trestles"

Mr. Hedrick, with a professional background as a licensed ship's captain, a former commercial abalone diver, a lifelong surfer, free diver, underwater photographer and spear-fisherman, has written a remarkable homage/memoir of his lifelong friend, the redoubtable Flippy Hoffman, and the memorable 1,500-mile small craft voyage they took in November, 1969……Craig Lockwood

  1. It's a true tale of friendship, ingenuity, maritime navigation and a rogue 100 foot wave.
With the exception of having to know fathoms ( water below the keel ) I could leave my ocean going charts in the drawer and make the same trip with this book as my guide. No doubt the surroundings have changed since 1969. Seeing those changes would be an adventure in itself.
    Gracias Amigo,
